About me. Photographer in Prague Katerina Golos

My Photographic Journey

My name is Katerina Golos, and I’m a professional photographer based in Prague.

Thanks to my dad, I’ve been interested in photography ever since I was a little kid. When I was growing up, there weren’t any digital cameras, so we always had to go to a studio for family photos. Fortunately, we had our own photo studio and darkroom with all the tools, including a developer, an enlarger and so on. And everything was shot using the world-famous Zenit camera. As I learned more about what goes into making a photograph, my desire to be behind the camera only grew.

My relationship with photography took a hiatus for a while but came back in a digital form. In 2005, I got my hands on my very own first digital camera. As unbelievable as it may sound, I found using my trusty old Zenit camera much simpler than my shiny new Canon PowerShot S2 IS. That’s when I realized it was time to educate myself. Who wouldn’t want a beautiful collection of family photographs to look over again and again?

That same year, I was given the opportunity to study photography at the youth photo studio “Krayavid” in Minsk, Belarus. The most important thing I learnt there was the philosophy of photography.

After moving to Prague in 2010, motivated by my new picturesque home, I picked up my camera again. That period became a turning point in my life, as I quit my job as an IT HR manager to pursue photography. My main interest became family photography.

After a decade, I’m still developing and discovering new techniques, widening my views and exploring new directions for my work and creativity. In addition to family photography, I now provide portraits, couples, and content photoshoots.

Active learning, often via the internet, has also become an important element of my self-development.

I’m looking forward to seeing you in person for our shooting!
